She’ll Be Right, Mate...

Australia is in the midst of a housing crisis with many asking how did we get here and who is to blame? The unceasing rhetoric accusing the unknown stranger dished out by the nation’s loudest voices. Journalist Alan Kohler explored the consequences of immigrants moving downunder during 2005-2007. This deliberate decision was never made public by Canberra and was in juxtaposition by then Prime Minister John Howard’s hard stance against refugees, as seen with MV Tampa. This surge of new legal arrivals was weaponised against the unions in a succinct move to destabilise them and quash wage growth. Repercussions of these calculated attacks, now being felt today.
