I painted these Mulla Mulla because we used to travel up and down to Perth from Hedland, me and all of my babies, my children, when they were younger. We would go inland. I used to love looking at all the Mulla Mullas on the side of the road, and I said to myself – one day I’ll paint those. I fell in love with them, all the colours: purples and lilacs.
