“January 2022 Mount Clarence Albany is on fire, racing towards the surrounding homes. Water bombers circle and line up to release pink retardant, so bright against the bush. The fire is out. Months later the pink lingers on, splashed over trees, boulders, and plants. From below the stain outlines the area danger.

Using hand cut stencils to define composition, loose underpainting and tonal contrast, the work explores the defeat of fire, the aftermath, and the addition of this outlandish colour to the Great Southern bush.”
