TRAVIS LILLY

Sculptor

2020 PARTICIPANT

Travis Lilley is a Port Hedland artist who uses recycled copper and brass to create sculptures inspired by marine life.

Travis hopes that his sculptures raise awareness about how fragile this eco system is and also as a process to work through his concerns and passions for each marine subject and the significance that they hold for him. Travis enjoys manipulating the copper to create a shine and then may use a patina method to create green and blue hues from the copper.

Being a former plumber he finds pleasure in being able to recycle old copper and fittings sourced from local buildings. Travis often combines his plumbing and artistic abilities to create art that works as plumbing fixtures.

Travis has discovered a new passion for portraits and illustrations and is exploring different mediums and painting surfaces. Travis enjoys trying to capture the emotion in a moment in his portraits.

Travis is working on collection that captures the faces and stories of the Pilbara people.
