Calling All Young Creators of the Weird and Wonderful! We’re thrilled to invite youth from across Karratha to dive into our 2025–2026 Youth Program – a wild and whimsical journey leading to the epic youth exhibition FREAKY LITTLE FRIENDS, coming to life at the Red Earth Arts Precinct in March 2026.

As part of this monster-sized creative adventure, we’ll be running hands-on workshops where young people will unleash their imaginations to build their very own paper-maché creatures – from googly-eyed gremlins to tentacled troublemakers. And it gets even better: these creations will be professionally photographed and transformed into a quirky, magical animation by Port Hedland videography artist, Amelia Blanco!

All works will be featured in a full-scale, immersive installation – a world where weird rules and wacky is wonderful. We want the wildest ideas, the messiest monsters, and the freakiest little friends your imagination can conjure. No idea is too strange. In fact, the stranger the better…

If you are ready to tackle this challenge, please join us for the first workshop in this project series in these school holidays. We’d love to see you get involved in this fun and imaginative holiday activity!

The Red Earth Arts Precinct Exhibition Program is managed by The Junction Co. on behalf of the City of Karratha. This program is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Rio Tinto and the support of the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) Culture and the Arts WA, as part of their RETB Regional Arts Sector Capacity Building funding program for 2023 to 2027.
