Artist
Katherine Tawse
Katherine Tawse is a Filipino-Australian self-taught visual artist working across acrylic, watercolour, and mixed media. Her practice draws deeply from personal experiences and cultural heritage, weaving memory, emotion, and storytelling through symbolism and surrealist principles. Inspired by both the natural world and the expressive spontaneity of sketchbook practice, her works often reflect the raw beauty of the Pilbara landscape, including native wildflowers.
Katherine’s recent pieces focus on the quiet power of personal narrative, continuing her exploration of identity and belonging. She was awarded the Highly Commended Prize in the Portrait category at the 2024 Dampier Art Awards and has exhibited at the Cossack Art Awards in previous years.
