The Junction Co. is inviting expressions of interest from Pilbara First Nation artists to take part in the upcoming NAIDOC Exhibition.
This year marks a significant milestone: five decades of NAIDOC, a celebration of culture, resilience, and the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Fifty Years of Deadly recognises the Elders, organisers, and artists who have paved the way, and the communities whose energy, creativity, and commitment continue to shape this enduring movement.
This exhibition is about reflecting on the journeys that brought us here. The stories, art, activism, language, and leadership that have been nurtured across generations. It is a celebration of cultural strength, pride, and the determination that has ensured our stories are seen, heard, and respected.
It also honours the present: our communities today, strong in identity, guided by culture, and making meaningful contributions across all areas of life, from arts and media to education, business, and beyond. And it looks forward to the future: the next generation, the resurgence of language and connection to Country, and the ongoing pursuit of justice and self-determination.
Fifty Years of Deadly seeks works that engage with these themes, recognising the past while imagining what lies ahead. Artists working in any medium are encouraged to submit proposals, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, textiles, photography, and digital media.
The Junction Co. is committed to supporting regional creatives, providing opportunities for professional growth, and fostering artistic development.
We welcome expressions of interest from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists in the Pilbara to contribute to this landmark exhibition.
