DESCRIPTION: Addictions or the impulse to withdraw often stem from a fractured sense of self, but Step 7 offers relief by inviting us to practice true humility. By letting go and asking a Higher Power for help, we release the crushing pressure of trying to navigate life entirely on our own. I captured this moment of clarity in Auckland, New Zealand, shortly after losing my brother; the image of such a space serves as a reminder of the peace that comes when we finally stop fighting and ask for guidance.
