TITLE: Service / a new life
DESCRIPTION: Step 12 calls us to a life of service, rebuilding our community and our self-esteem by shifting our focus onto others. This final piece is a quiet nighttime painting of my home in Port Hedland, a place where I have finally found steady ground eight years after the harrowing loss of my brother. In the stillness of this scene, I am reflecting on the gratitude I feel for a life that has been both expansive and difficult, full of joy and misery alike. It represents the peace I’ve found through my work and the return of my craft through The Courthouse gallery & HARTZ Studio, where my art has finally become a vehicle for service rather than just a mirror for my pain.
