I love the outdoors, a coastal lifestyle and being close to nature, and this is often reflected in my style of art.”

A word from Lauren
Storytelling and art are integral parts of our lives. We could express ourselves with the art we had when there was no written language. We created a map for ourselves with our songs, music, dance, and artists. We understand that when we create art, there is a tremendous responsibility. Our creations don’t just belong to us. We are telling our history, illuminating our story, and documenting our spiritual journey. Through our art, we transmit ancestral guidance. Through it, we can learn about how the world came to be and navigate its complexities. Art tells us a story that is not yet complete. We, as a people with deep roots in the earth, must pick up the trail left by our old people and leave a map for future generations.

A word from Sam
“Hello my loves! I’m Sam – the sun loving, salt dipping, beach thriving mum-of-two creative behind Under the Sun Graphic Design.

I have been so fortunate to be surrounded by some phenomenal out-of-the-box minds and mentors right here in Hedland that have helped me grow and establish myself as a creative and my business as a graphic designer. Until recently, I never considered myself an ‘artist,’ and I am so thrilled to be featured alongside some of Hedland’s amazing emerging artistic talents and have the opportunity to represent the beauty of this stunning Pilbara landscape the way I see it.

SHOWCASING TALENT

GIVING ARTISTS A PLATFORM

This project is all about showcasing the Courthouse Gallery+Studio, the Pilbara, and helping artists on their journey, giving them a chance to be part of something that otherwise may not have been an option to do so. Merchandising can be a tricky process if you have never done it before, and the Courthouse Galley+Studio’s aim was to make the process as simple as possible, giving them an opportunity to gain experience and to see how their artwork would look like being re-produced onto material.

The garments are all printed within Australia, with both digital and screen-printing methods used. A variety of materials have been chosen which include 100% combined cotton to give a little stretch, organic textiles (GOTS approved), and a variety of light to heavy GSM weights with all garments double hemmed and pre-shrunk to avoid any changes after washing!

There are both men, women and unisex T-shirs available for purchase in a variety of colours, styles and sizes.
