Get busy these school holidays in Portside! There are plenty of activities and events for the whole family to enjoy.

WEARABLE ART FOR TEENS (11YRS+)

Looking for a fun, creative morning in Hedland? Create a piece of wearable art out of an old garment and some recyclable materials. Bring an old piece of clothing (t-shirt, skirt, shirt, dress, or whatever tickles your fancy) to turn into art. We will have some spare garments if you don’t have your own. You will be cutting, pasting, ripping, and turning your piece of clothing into a work of art. We will have an assortment of recyclable items for you to decorate your garment with, but feel free to also bring your own.

This workshop is part of the Dirty Earth Project programming. You will have the opportunity to exhibit your wearable art in a fashion show as part of our Youth Art Prize Exhibition Opening Event on 25th November. Find out more here.

Looking for a fun, creative morning in Hedland? Get your hands dirty and make your very own paper from recycled materials! Join our facilitator to create different types of recycled paper with all sorts of colours, textures and character! Use these mini creations to write your next letter on, create a card or use it towards your Dirty Earth Youth Art Prize masterpiece!

Looking for a fun, creative morning in Hedland? Let’s harness your creativity and put those egg cartons that are always lying around to good use!

Create a bunch of flowers using left over egg cartons and everyday recyclable materials. You will be cutting, pasting, painting and sculpting to create a bright and beautiful bunch of flowers you can take home and put on display.

PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP: THE PARTY IS ON THE INSIDE (11-18YRS)

Join our unique workshop celebrating the moments of happiness and joy that make life extraordinary. Dive into printmaking to transform your cherished memories into stunning foam prints. You’ll learn printmaking techniques, painting, and colour manipulation to bring your visions to life. Unleash your creativity by enhancing your prints with a vibrant palette of paints and materials, and take your art to the next level by crafting 3D sculptures using paper mâché, fabric, and found objects. Whether you’re an experienced artist or just starting your creative journey, all are welcome to explore their moments of joy.
