Consumption in Isolation

This series of gouache paintings is to be read like a self-portrait or journal entry, documenting my eating habits over a fourteen day period (although not always sequential) in reference to, and during, COVID-19. I’m interested in consumption, packaging, and how politics or circumstance can influence change in eating habits; whether we ‘treat’ ourselves or stress eat. I’ve actively chosen to paint some food items over others, and what the viewer sees isn’t necessarily what I’ve left, but rather the remains of what preceded it. Some works pay reference to politics or ideology, and others are imperfect representations of what I ate.
