The Junction Co. announces The Jury Art Prize 2024: Celebrating Artistic Excellence in Regional Western Australia

The Junction Co., a champion of artistic expression, is thrilled to unveil the call for entries for The Jury Art Prize 2024. This esteemed competition is open to all artists residing in regional Western Australia, across a diverse range of mediums, including painting, mixed media, sculpture, photography, and digital art.

The Jury Art Prize 2024 offers a transformative opportunity for artists to share their creativity with a diverse audience. The selected finalists will not only have their works showcased in a prestigious gallery setting but will also contribute to the vibrant dialogue surrounding regional artistic excellence.

The Jury Art Prize 2024, hosted by The Junction Co., introduces four key prize
categories judged by industry experts. These categories include the prestigious Judge’s Prize and the Kathy Donnelly Encouragement Prize, highlighting emerging talent. The Jury Prize (People’s Choice) empowers attendees to vote for their favourite artwork throughout the exhibition, fostering inclusivity. Supported by the Town of Port Hedland, the Patron Award recognises community contributions to the arts. Remarkably, both the Jury Prize and Judge’s Prize carry equal prize monies of $10,000, emphasizing our commitment to equitable recognition.

Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, judge of The Jury Art Prize 2023, says: “The Jury Art Prize takes the pulse of contemporary art practices across regional WA. The finalists represent the depth of expertise and creative rigour that our state has to offer, revealing the leading edge of artistic conversations relevant not only to local audiences but to broader national and international concerns of place, cultural connectivity and deep relationships to the lands we call home. This is the type of platform that regional artists need. To have their work contextualised in the company of their peers, from emerging to incredibly senior practitioners, there are so many voices that need to be heard. For the judging panel, the winning works offered a clarity of vision that was fully complemented by the supporting text. The language that informs the visual impact of an artwork completes the experience”.
